Autumn Fruit Ginger Pudding GF SCD Guest Post for The Seasonal Real Food Blog Series

Autumn is my favourite season of the year. Aren't the colours spectacular! It sounds a little bit crazy but I find myself longing for root vegetables, freshly picked apples and blackberries as well as the dark nights ahead long before Autumn is even approaching. So when Emily of Recipes to Nourish contacted me to see if I would like to contribute a guest post for her Seasonal Real Food Blog Series, I was excited and delighted to participate and I also felt very honoured since I've admired her blog and what it represents for some time now.

John Keats' poem "To Autumn", published in 1820, somehow vividly captures the mood of the season and effectively proves that nothing has really changed despite the passing of the years..
"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells."

Ginger Cake

I've combined the heat of ginger with Autumn fruit but I've left it up to you to decide whether you want to choose apples, pears and/or berries. Ginger is comforting and warming and is both healing and nourishing, especially important for this time of year when the cold and flu viruses start to spread.
